👔 What I did before...
Previously I worked in the medical administrative field, advocating for patients throughout their vulnerable and often arduous healthcare journeys.
And if you know anything about the healthcare system, you know it can be rife with bureaucracy, negligence, and insensitivity. Not ideal for the management of your wellness.

A human-centered, solution-oriented work ethic was paramount to combat these obstacles and provide a positive patient experience. This kind of work felt so rewarding and I knew I wanted my professional life to involve empathetic, thoughtful service to others.
🎭 At the same time...
I was performing long-form improvisational comedy and theater nearly every weekend. In an art form where a one-act play is created in real-time in front of a live audience without a script, I developed a resilient mind for rapid, iterative idea-generating.
Improv instilled in me a sense of the design principles behind storytelling - generating emotionally relevant ideas, then interacting with that information to bring about a useful catharsis.
It scratched my itch for authentic, inventive expression and I dreamed of pursuing a career that fostered that. I just didn’t have a clue what that could look like.

📱 Why UX/UI Design...
When I discovered UX/UI Design, I realized I had found the career path to neatly connect my disjointed puzzle pieces. A discipline concerned with how a user experiences a product by emphasizing empathy-based problem-solving and open-ended ideation? Sign me up, please!
In August 2022, I enrolled in the Thinkful UX/UI Design Flex online program.
During my six-month boot camp, I completed multiple case studies showcasing my strategic user research, concise content writing, and effective product design.

My new chapter in life (professionally) is to continue to apply and grow these user-centered design skills in a fast-paced team environment.
